The fourth annual ITU Telecom World event provided an international platform bringing together developed and emerging markets, public and private sector leaders, and industry representatives from across the entire ICT ecosystem; celebrating creativity and innovation in digital solutions meeting real-world social needs. dbTrack was invited to take part in the international tech exhibit and to pitch before a panel of leading international judges. dbTrack ’s innovative world-first technology was selected from more than 600 applicants. 1.1 billion youth are at risk of developing hearing loss as a result of unsafe listening practices. dbTrack addresses this public health crises prioritized by the World Health Organization ’s safe listening initiative.

According to Professor De Wet Swanepoel , scientific advisor to the project, “1 in 7 children 9 to 11 years of age already show hearing damage due to noise.” dbTrack ’s personal in-ear sound tracking solution measures in-ear sound levels to prevent hearing loss in youth. The App provides real-time feedback on sound exposure and safe listening time. The accuracy of measurements relies on earphone manufacturers incorporating dbTrack sound sensor technology.

This world-first technology was selected as one of the favourite new tech trends at the 2018 TechCrunch in San Francisco (Forbes, 2018). dbTrack also walked away with the MTN App of the Year award (health category) for 2018. Nic Klopper , CEO of hearX Group , announced that “a US-based premium earphone manufacturer (Westone) will be the first partner to launch dbTrack in their earphones with others to follow in 2019”.

dbTrack is launching a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to sign-up for an exclusive 50% early-bird discount and support our world-first campaign by signing up.For your media kit, please go to the following link: http://bit.ly/2NmBZzI
