Frequently Asked Questions

What is hearTest for Occ Health?
hearTest Occ Health is an intuitive CE-certified digital smartphone audiometer with cloud data management using mHealth software. hearTest Occupational Health has been developed for use in an occupational hearing screening context and it is compliant with global audiometer standards and region-specific occupational health requirements.
What is the recommended test environment for hearTest Occ Health?
It is recommended that the test environment be certified based on the applicable standard relevant in the territory that the equipment is used in. The certification of the environment should be performed with a calibrated sound level meter as specified by the relevant standard (either Type 1 or Type 2 Sound Level Meter). Occupational health hearing tests can either be performed in a soundproof booth or in a transportable sound-treated testing environment. The test environment should be free from distractions to ensure patient concentration and reliable test results. The Radio Ear insert earphones with 3M Peltor X5A offer a 40dB - 50 dB attenuation at Occupational Health test frequencies. A white paper study conducted by hearX Group confirmed hearTest occupational health attenuation levels are similar to a mini 5 cm panel sound-booth and exceed those of a typical transportable sound-treated booth.
How do I use hearTest Occ Health?
For more information on how to use the hearTest Occ Health please access the hearX Training Platform.
Does hearTest Occ Health include baseline testing?
A baseline test is performed to determine the patient's initial hearing thresholds before occupational noise exposure and is used as a comparison to detect changes in the hearing thresholds that may alert early signs of hearing loss. hearTest Occ Health calculates the Percentage Loss of Hearing (PLH) to validate the baseline results obtained and calculates a final baseline which is saved in the mHealth Studio Cloud platform.

The baseline protocol should be selected when it is required to perform a baseline test. A second option is available to add a baseline test once a screening test result is obtained.

Also note: Baselines performed with previous equipment can be imported into mHealth.
Can I add a signature to my hearTest Occ Health test results?
Yes, you can add a signature to the hearTest Occ Health test result.
Can I use hearTest Occ Health without the mHealth Studio App?
hearScreen, hearTest, hearTest Occ Health, and hear® STK need to be used within the mHealth Studio App, while hearScope can be used within the mHealth Studio App or as stand-alone application. Please see the mHealth Studio FAQs for additional information: mHealth Studio FAQs.
